AeroPress Brew Guide – Full Flavoured Recipe (Inverted Method)

The AeroPress is versatile and easy to use. Great for camping, travel or even the office, prepare your own freshly brewed coffee on the go!

 

What you need

AeroPress

Paper or reusable stainless steel filter

35 grams of your favourite medium ground Silva coffee

Kettle with 250mls of hot 96c water plus extra for pre rinsing

Long handled stirrer

Sturdy cup or decanter

Scales

Timer

 

 Brew Ratio 1:7.1 - Brew Time 2:00

 

STEP 1:Place filter into the filter cap and pre-soak filter with hot water

STEP 2: Insert the plunger into the brewing chamber so that the rubber part of the plunger is sitting just inside the brew chamber. Invert the AeroPress and place the plunger onto the scales with the brewing chamber facing up

STEP 3: Add 35 grams of  ground coffee, tare the scales

STEP 4: Start timer and quickly fill the brewing chamber to the top with hot water (about 150mls). Stir slowly for 10 secs

STEP 5: At the 1 minute mark stir again for 5secs then place the filter and filter cap on the brewing chamber

 

STEP 6: At the1 minute 30 second mark place a cup over the filter and slowly flip the AeroPress. Place on bench and slowly push down until you hear air coming from the base. Aim to finish the press at the 2 minute mark

 

STEP 7: Top up the cup with the remaining 100mls of hot water, enjoy

 

STEP 8: To clean up, hold the AeroPress over a bin, hold horizontally and remove the filter cap, push the plunger to discard the spent coffee grounds. If your using a reusable filter please remove your filter before plunging

 

 

Troubleshooting

Can’t get your plunger to fit, try wetting the rubber seal with hot water before you plunge.

 

An AeroPress is an amazingly flexible and diverse method of coffee making and there are literally hundreds of difference recipes to try, happy experimenting.
